Terms of Service

1 Enrollment & Registration

• By submitting a registration form, you express your intent to enroll in one of our German language courses.
• Enrollment is confirmed only after receiving written confirmation (email or phone) from KIGS staff.
• You must provide accurate and complete information during registration. Providing false information may result in cancellation of enrollment.
• KIGS reserves the right to refuse enrollment at its discretion.

2 Course Fees & Payment

• Course fees are as listed on our website and are subject to change. Confirmed enrolled students will not be affected by mid-term price changes.
• Full payment is required before the start of each course unless a payment plan has been agreed upon in writing.
• Fees are quoted in Kenyan Shillings (KSh) and must be paid in KSh unless otherwise arranged.
• KIGS issues receipts for all payments. Please retain your receipt as proof of payment.

3 Cancellations & Refunds

• Cancellations made 7 or more days before the course start date are eligible for a full refund minus any administrative fees.
• Cancellations made within 3–6 days of the course start date are eligible for a 50% refund.
• No refunds are issued for cancellations made fewer than 3 days before the course start date.
• If KIGS cancels a course, enrolled students will receive a full refund or option to transfer to the next available session.
• Refunds are processed within 14 business days of approval.

4 Online Classes (Zoom)

• All classes are conducted online via Zoom. A stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone are required.
• Students are responsible for their own technology setup. KIGS is not liable for technical issues on the student's end.
• Students are expected to join sessions on time and participate actively.
• Recording of sessions without explicit consent from the instructor is strictly prohibited.
• Zoom links are shared exclusively with enrolled students and must not be forwarded to third parties.

5 Student Conduct

All students are expected to:

• Treat instructors and fellow students with respect and courtesy
• Attend classes punctually and notify the instructor in advance if unable to attend
• Refrain from disruptive, offensive, or inappropriate behaviour during sessions
• Not share, reproduce, or distribute course materials without written permission from KIGS

KIGS reserves the right to remove a student from a course without refund if these conduct standards are repeatedly violated.

6 Intellectual Property

All course materials, including notes, presentations, recordings, and worksheets, are the intellectual property of Kenya Institute for German Studies. Students may use materials for personal study only. Reproduction, distribution, or commercial use of any course materials without explicit written consent is strictly prohibited.

7 Exam Preparation Disclaimer

While KIGS provides high-quality Goethe and ÖSD exam preparation, we cannot guarantee exam results. Exam outcomes depend on individual student effort, attendance, and readiness. KIGS is not affiliated with or officially endorsed by Goethe-Institut or ÖSD unless expressly stated. Students are responsible for registering independently for official exams.

8 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KIGS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services or enrollment in our courses. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the course in question.

9 Changes to These Terms

KIGS reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

10 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
